Our Story

Mad Idly began as more than a food venture – it is a dream woven from memories, journeys, and a love for flavors that unite cultures.

Our founder, a woman entrepreneur from Kolkata, first discovered her fondness for South Indian cuisine during her MBA days at MS Ramaiah, Bangalore. From sharing plates of steaming idlis with friends to enjoying crispy dosas in Chennai, where she also made her home, every experience deepened her connection with the soulful tastes of the South.

Later, while preparing for the UPSC in Delhi, she witnessed something beautiful – food’s ability to bring people together. North Indians embraced South Indian delicacies with the same love as their own, showing that food knows no boundaries.

That seed of inspiration grew into Mad Idly – a kitchen that brings together Kolkata’s warmth and the timeless flavors of South India. Each dish we serve is a celebration of authenticity, tradition, and love – a story told through taste, one bite at a time.
